Tyler Wells struck out 13 batters at Forbes Field where the Oyster Bay Tomcats
beat the Vancouver Flames 4 to 1.
 
Wells(2-3) was solid in the win.  He didn't give up much, just 4 hits and 1
walk in 7 innings reducing his ERA from 4.06 to 3.43.  Oyster Bay ended up
with 9 hits for the game while Vancouver had 6.  
 
Robert Stephenson earned the save, his 5th.  Reese Olson(2-4) absorbed the
loss.  Steve Tomkowicz was asked about the performance of Wells, 'He had his
good stuff out there this afternoon.  The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
 
ATLANTIC CITY AT LAS VEGAS

First baseman Freddie Freeman went yard as the Atlantic City Surf defeated the
ice-cold Las Vegas Aces 5 to 2 at MGM Grand Field.
 
Atlantic City brought 2 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning when they had
3 base hits.  Lars Nootbaar led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk.
Seiya Suzuki stepped into the batter's box and he grounded into a double
play.  Freeman then singled, and an error was also committed.  William
Contreras stepped in and he laced a base-hit which scored a run.  Yordan
Alvarez came to the plate and doubled scoring the final run of the inning.
Jose Alvarado was perfect in relief and got the save, his 2nd.  
 
The win was credited to Jose Berrios(3-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
2 runs. Blake Snell(2-5) took the loss.  He gave up 6 hits and 5 walks in 6
and 2/3 innings.
 
SEATTLE AT DAYTON

Bryce Harper had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Dayton Grits topped the Seattle Jets
by a score of 8 to 3 at Grit Park.
 
Dayton drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning with
2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Harper jump-started
the rally as he doubled.  Corey Seager came next and he smashed a two-run
homer.  Seattle was out-hit by Dayton, 15 hits to 6.  
 
Eduardo Rodriguez(2-2) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Jesse Chavez recorded his 1st save.  Hunter Greene(2-4) was given the loss.
He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 3 innings.  
 
 
LOS ANGELES AT NASHVILLE

Matt McLain lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI at Fed Ex Field
where the Nashville Classics beat the Los Angeles Lycans by the score of 5 to
3.
 
Brandon Williamson(3-0) pitched a fine game.  He went 5 and 1/3 innings
allowing 5 hits and no walks.  Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but
Nashville was able to put down the rally.  
 
Williamson got help from Jeff Hoffman who was credited with his 7th save.
Julio Urias(2-3) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 3 runs and 9 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.
 
OKLAHOMA AT TAMPA BAY

The Tampa Bay Firestorm halted a 5 game slide and edged the Oklahoma
Missilemen at Inferno Field by the score of 8 to 7.
 
The game was decided in the 8th inning.  Josh Lowe lined a base-hit.  Lowe
took his lead and swiped second.  Geraldo Perdomo struck out, unable to help
the rally.  Matt Wallner was up next and he delivered a single.  Triston
Casas came up to bat and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Tampa Bay
rapped out 13 hits for the night.  
 
The win went to Raisel Iglesias(2-2) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Iglesias
got relief help from Jimmy Cordero who gained credit for his 1st save.
Andres Munoz(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief.  
 
Armand Gladu was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of
games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back.  Now maybe we can
relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
 
MASSACHUSETTS AT GOTHAM

Wander Franco connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as the Massachusetts
Mayhem defeated the Gotham Knights by the score of 6 to 5 at Arkham
Stadium.
 
Massachusetts scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning plating
2 runs on 2 hits.  After two were out Royce Lewis began the rally when he
drew a walk.  Adley Rutschman was next and he laced a base-knock.  Isaac
Paredes then doubled which was good for two runs.  Yennier Cano came throught
with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 6th save.  
 
The winning pitcher was Gregory Soto(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 2 innings. The
losing pitcher was Chris Stratton(0-2) in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3
innings and surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk.
 
DELAWARE AT PHILADELPHIA

Zack Wheeler(3-3) and Logan Webb(4-5) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Wheeler and the Philadelphia Freedom coming out on top of the Delaware Devils
1 to 0.
 
Philadelphia scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the
bottom of the 6th inning.  After two were out Christian Encarnacion hit a
bases-empty home run.  The Delaware batters went down meekly in the 9th.
 
Will Vest gained credit for his 2nd save.
